EC: We have sold 3,737 nomination forms

PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has sold 1,220 nomination forms for the parliament category and 2,517 for the state assembly category for the 14th General Election.

Its corporate communicat­ions unit said the forms were sold at EC headquarte­rs and state offices.

As at yesterday, Sabah and Labuan recorded the highest sale of nomination forms for both the parliament­ary and state assembly seats with 288 and 605 forms sold, respective­ly.

Perlis recorded the lowest number of nomination forms sold, with five for parliament­ary seats and 13 for state assembly seats.

Forty-five nomination forms for parliament and 45 for state assemblies were sold by EC headquarte­rs; Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with 43 forms for parliament, Selangor with 112 (parliament) and 269 (state assemblies), and Sarawak with 125 forms for parliament­ary seats.

In Johor, 101 nomination forms for parliament and 120 for state assemblies were sold; Pahang (57 forms for parliament and 172 for state assemblies); Kelantan (69 forms for parliament and 194 for state assemblies); and Terengganu (42 for parliament and 128 for state assemblies).

In Kedah, the number of nomination forms sold were 100 and 241 for parliament and state assembly categories, respective­ly; Penang with 120 for parliament and 390 for state assemblies; Melaka with 21 for parliament and 93 for state assemblies and Negri Sembilan with six for parliament) and 58 for state assemblies.

Each form is priced at RM20.
