Young candidates will help BN regain state, says Imran
SHAH ALAM: The line-up of young Barisan Nasional candidates fielded to contest in Selangor will help the coalition regain the state in 14th General Election (GE14).
Datuk Imran Tamrin, who has been nominated to contest the Sungai Panjang state seat, said he was confident BN would win the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency and state seats.
Budiman Mohd Zohdi is the Sungai Panjang assemblyman.
“Budiman (who has been fielded to contest the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat) is an exemplary leader and one of the best candidates in Selangor.
“This will be a challenge to me, but I am confident I can lead and continue his (Budiman’s) legacy in serving the people here.
“Besides, he was my mentor when I first entered the political scene.
“I was groomed to become a leader under his guidance,” Imran said.
The 31-year-old lawyer said despite not being a seasoned politician, he would give his best and carry out his responsibilities.
“I come from a middle-income family. My father was a farmer and mother a housewife.
“Sungai Panjang is were I grew up and studied.
“Hence, I am very familiar with the place.
“In fact, I have never stayed far from my kampung (village).
“I have also worked with Budiman after the previous general election, carrying out social work and helping residents in our constituency,” he added.
Meanwhile, MCA has placed architect Lee Yee Yuan, 28, a local candidate, in the Sekinchan state seat.
Although Lee would compete against former three-term DAP assemblyman Ng Suee Lim, he is confident that he would be able to bring changes to the area.
“We have worked hard and all we have to do now is maintain the momentum.
“We will then have no problem in winning and returning Sekinchan to BN.
“As a young candidate, I am able to understand the concerns and issues faced by the youth in Sekinchan and I will assist them in any way possible.
“People want to see change because they have not seen any in the past 15 years, especially youth looking for job opportunities.”
Other young candidates are Rizam Ismail (37), Kang Meng Fuat (36), Chan Wun Hoong (39), Leong Kim Soon (40), Chang Toong Who (40), Ho Kwok Xheng (29), Teoh Kah Yeong (38) and Shahril Sufian Hamdan (32).By
