Wanita, Puteri Umno candidates set their sight on winning

-

KOTA BARU: Barisan Nasional will be fielding five women to contest state seats in the 14th General Election (GE14), and only one has contested before.

Although the others are “new faces”, they are confident of winning.

Kota Baru Wanita Umno chief Madihah Ab Aziz, one of the new faces, said there would be no problem going up against opposition candidates for the Tanjong Mas seat although it was said to be an opposition stronghold.

“Yes, the Tanjong Mas seat is their stronghold.

“But, there are signs that indicate they are not as strong as before.

“Therefore, it is not impossible... if we continue to approach voters, we have a chance and I am grateful that the party has given me this opportunity to bring change to the people of Tanjong Mas.”

Kelantan Wanita Umno chief Zarina Md Eusope, who will be contesting the Panchor state seat, said all planning and preparations had been completed.

She said Wanita Umno had done much for the people of Kelantan, including giving aid to needy families and bringing their cases to the Social Welfare Department.

“I am confident that all the work we have been doing, and with the aid of the election machinery, especially that of the Wanita and Puteri wings, God willing, we have been able to get closer to voters and convince them to vote for BN in Kelantan,” she said.

For Kubang Kerian Puteri Umno chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi, it was an honour and a big responsibility to be chosen to contest the Demit seat.

“My candidacy is a huge responsibility.

“I will be focusing on making sure that efforts to win the seat are continuous.

“We have already gone to the ground.

“From what we have been made to understand, the opposition will be fielding a candidate who is not a local.

“I am a local and I know what the people there need.

“So, hopefully, this will give me an advantage.”

Kuala Krai Wanita Umno chief Suzaini Adlina Sukri will be going all out to win the Manek Urai state seat.

She said candidates needed to be confident and work diligently to ensure victory for BN.

“We know what we must do. I, for one, want to ensure that the hopes of our leaders to wrest back this state from the opposition come true.”
