MIDA INKS DEAL WITH DAHER, IOT VALLEY
French firms to help in development of Internet of Things and logistics in Malaysia’s aerospace industry
MALAYSIAN Investment Development Authority (Mida) signed a tripartite pact with France’s Daher and IoT Valley on Friday to promote investments between France and Malaysia, particularly in the development of Internet of Things (IoT) and logistics in Malaysia’s aerospace industry.
In a statement yesterday, Mida said the participation of Daher — a global service provider in the aerospace industry — would contribute towards creating and supporting the development of new innovative solutions, in line with the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.
IoT Valley would leverage its dedicated ecosystem of IoT companies to provide digital and network support, Mida added.
“The initiative will deliver a great deal of value to the aerospace industry, in terms of innovative products and services being created, quality employment opportunities and businesses for the local supply chain,” said Mida chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud.
“By utilising IoT technologies such as data analytics and sensors in logistics services for the aerospace industry, it will not only enhance the overall user experience for consumers but also benefit cost optimisation and energy efficiency.”
Azman said Mida would work closely with Daher and IoT Valley to facilitate their investments in Malaysia.
“We foresee the country will stand to benefit from the futurefocused logistics solutions through the partnership.”
France is Malaysia’s fifth largest foreign investor in the manufacturing sector among the European Union members.
As at December last year, a total of 117 manufacturing projects with French participation had been implemented with investments of RM3.5 billion.
The majority of these investments were in petroleum products, machinery and equipment, transport equipment, chemical and chemical products and basic metal products.
