PROTESTS OVER CHOICE OF PKR’S KAPAR, REMBAU PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES
SEREMBAN: A group claiming to be members of PKR’s Rembau Youth wing is against the party’s move to field branch secretary Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Roselli Abdul Ghani as candidate for the Rembau parliamentary seat.
Group representative Zarizal Abdul Rahman, 30, claimed that they protested from the start as they were not happy with the decision to submit only Roselli’s name for consideration.
“We do not agree with the decision as Roselli is not a suitable candidate to challenge Umno Youth chief (Khairy Jamaluddin).
“He is not the choice of the majority of PKR Rembau branch members.
“We have lodged a complaint with the branch chief and party headquarters, but have yet to receive feedback.
“We have not been called to discuss the issue either.
“We do not have any alternative candidate to replace Roselli, but would want to discuss on a more suitable candidate,” he said at the PKR Negri Sembilan office here yesterday.
Earlier, Zarizal had apologised to the media for not being able to comment on the matter due to orders from party headquarters, which he claimed had contacted him in the morning.
On Tuesday, state PKR chief Aminuddin Harun announced GE14 candidates from PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara in the state.
This included Roselli, who was chosen to contest the Rembau parliamentary seat.
