‘Wan Azizah did not tackle local issues’

-

PERMATANG PAUH: The people in Permatang Pauh are disgruntled with the inaction of their incumbent member of parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

They are fed up with the inefficiency of Dr Wan Azizah bringing development and taking care of the welfare of the people.

Shaharin Sabudin, 39, of Kampung Guar Jering, said as an elected representative, Dr Wan Azizah should focus on easing the burden of the local people.

“I am dumbstruck that she talks about national issues, but fails to tackle problems here such as traffic congestion and floods.

“The only thing that has changed here is the leadership from the father to the mother, and now they want to field the daughter (Nurul Izzah Anwar) as PKR candidate. I am sure nothing will change if she (Nurul Izzah) wins the seat.”

Arifin Ismail, 58, of Permatang Pasir, said the indifferent attitude of leaders had stalled development in the constituency.

“I know members of parliament have allocations for their constituencies, but I do not see any change in Permatang Pauh.

“We have lodged complaints on streetlights and narrow roads, and sought aid for house restoration and other welfare assistance, but to no avail.”

A resident, who only wanted to be known as Pak Abu, 63, said the people must choose candidates who can serve the people.

“It is time for us to change and the people should realise that our former leaders did not serve the people here.”

Barisan Nasional candidate for Permatang Pauh Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said Umno and BN had drawn up holistic plans to transform the constituency and serve the people.
