Teachers, parents laud Frog VLE

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Teachers and parents agree that the virtual learning environment (VLE) has been beneficial to teachers, students and parents in bridging the education gap and making learning more interesting and accessible for those in rural and urban areas.

After The Leaps of Knowledge Conference 2018 here, participants, mainly comprising teachers, took part in two workshop sessions.

In the first session they were introduced to the new features and initiatives that FrogAsia Sdn Bhd has in store.

At the second workshop, experienced teachers shared their knowledge with other teachers on how to apply FrogPlay in their classes.

Teacher, Saifulnizan Ismail, 35, said most of his classes which he implemented the Frog VLE happened to be more systematic and interactive, which was an incentive to attract his students to focus and understand Mathematics.

Not only that, he said, his students were keen to learn more, and parents could monitor their children’s progress from home through a system.

“Through the 1BestariNet project, everything is easier, at the same time students are not piled with textbooks as they are learning through virtual learning. It is convenient for teachers to monitor homework given to the students from anywhere we are. I thank YTL Foundation and FrogAsia Sdn Bhd for providing us this accessible learning platform.”

SM St. Peter Telipok, Kota Kinabalu, principal Jackson Siga said Frog VLE had provided an advantage of assisting rural students to elevate their skills in information communication technology.

“Through this learning method, we can enhance the 4C’s of 21st Century skills — collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking — and it can be applied at the district-, state- and national-levels," he said.

Meanwhile, SK Kebangsaan Taman Kepong senior assistant teacher Wen Beng Heng, 48, said the number of computers available at each school was one of the obstacles for this programme to be fully implemented.

"Even though we do not have enough computers, teachers are grateful that pupils are able to access the Frog VLE through their smartphones. Teachers were also given access to a mobile application where they can monitor the pupils’ homework,” he said.
