Don’t be deceived by opposition politicians, Lembah Pantai voters advised

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai voters are advised to avoid being deceived by opposition politicians, who only appear during the election season.

Lembah Pantai Umno division chief Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, the Barisan Nasional candidate for the constituency, said the inconsistency of the opposition pact could be seen during the two terms that PKR had held the parliamentary seat.

“The opposition has been going to the ground for the past month because it is the election season,” he said at a Kelab Umno Pesara Kanan Kerajaan Malaysia (KUPKKM) get-together here yesterday.

“Unlike them, I prefer to be lowkey. I feel attachment to the constituency as I grew up and got married here.

“For two terms, former Lembah Pantai member of parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar has ignored the people and now she has run off to contest in another area.”

He said Nurul Izzah had been using Lembah Pantai as a stepping stone.

Despite losing by a majority of 1,847 votes in the 13th General Election, he said he had been doing the legwork and attending to the needs of constituents.

“It shows that BN and Umno are with the people despite not winning the seat. I want to show the people that I am with them, no matter what.”

Raja Nong Chik said BN could win the seat as it was facing two new faces, Fauzi Abu Bakar (Pas) and Ahmad Fahmi Muhammad Fadzil (PKR).

“It’s an advantage to BN, but we cannot get too comfortable. The main focus is to ensure that BN wins.”

He said Lembah Pantai BN would announce a special manifesto next week.

More than 600 pensioners and KUPKKM members were at the event.
