‘PKR only knows how to misuse state funds’

-

KLANG: PKR is incapable of ruling Selangor, and is only good at misusing state funds for its gain.

Barisan Nasional Meru state seat candidate Khairul Anuar Saimun said the state had been plagued by many issues, which had yet to be resolved.

He was commenting on former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s statement that PKR had solicited money from the state government for the party’s gain during his tenure.

“If this (act of requesting for money for PKR’s interest) occurred in the past, it is surely happening now (under Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s leadership).”

This, he said, raised doubts over PKR’s credibility and capability in administrating the state.

“The people of Selangor can see this (misuse of state funds and power) for themselves.

“Look at Meru. Bad road conditions and potholes remain unfixed. Upgrading works on the (7km-long) road from Jalan Meru Tambahan to Jalan Bukit Cerakah started in 2014, but has not been completed.

“Next is the flash floods and uncollected rubbish in Meru. PKR has been in power for 10 years. Are you telling me it did not have the time and resources to address these issues?” Khairul told the New Straits Times Press after a meet-and-greet session with the Meru community on Friday.

Present was Information Department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Rahman and Gerakan Masyarakat Prihatin SeMalaysia president S. Hassan Kuthoos Syed Ahmed Kabir.

Khairul said the Federal Government allocated RM480 million to the Malaysian Road Record Information System annually to maintain roads and streetlights in the state.

“It is a huge amount. So, where did the money go?

“PKR has failed to resolve the state’s water crisis. What is the point of giving (20 cubic metres of ) free water to households in Selangor if there is no water to use in the first place?

He took a swipe at PKR for “running away from its constituencies for fear of losing”.

“Former Kapar member of parliament G. Manivannan will contest the Hutan Melintang state seat, while former Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar has gone to Permatang Pauh.

“Why? Because they know they will lose since they have not served the people well. Manivannan has not set foot in Meru for a long time.”

Khalid on Thursday said de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had approached him to use state funds for PKR to conduct programmes and campaigns.

His refusal to do so, he said, led to his dismissal in 2014.
