HE’S 32, and already a chief executive officer (CEO), but Barisan Nasional’s candidate for Kuala Langat parliamentary seat, Shahril Sufian Hamdan, feels he could do more for people.

The Destini Oil Services Sdn Bhd CEO said he would feel fulfilled if he could serve society and help drive the country forward.

The eldest child of two siblings from Shah Alam said no matter how difficult the journey would be, he was ready to dive into the political arena.

“For years, I have been very keen on politics after reading countless books and articles on it, although my family has no political background.

“What I want is to serve the people so that in the next 30 years, our country can improve,” he said.

The University of Manchester graduate said his parents was initially concerned when he first mentioned his intention to join politics.

However, after five years, his parents are now one of his strongest support systems and even encouraged him to do good for the people.

“They asked if I was really serious about politics because I can have a much better life if I just maintained my current career path.

“My aim is to help society and improve the country so that we can be on a par with other advanced countries.

“This has been my goal since I was 22.”

The soon-to-be father, who is also a Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) ambassador, urged the people not to “experiment” with their future when choosing the country’s leadership.

BN’s Sungai Air Tawar state seat candidate Rizam Ismail, a businessman, hoped the people would not judge a candidate based on their professional background.

“For me, candidates who are professionals can give their full attention to issues at hand.

“For example, when I was Sungai Air Tawar’s federal development coordinator for a year, I focused on the job and constantly made the effort to understand the people and their desires.”
