RAHMAN: BN’S SAFE DEPOSIT IS SAFE
‘Sabah and Sarawak reject opposition’s politics based on accusations’
THE DAP-led opposition coalition will not be able to break Barisan Nasional’s fixed deposit in Sabah and Sarawak because the people reject politics based on accusations and instigation.
Sabah BN secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said Sabahans and Sarawakians wanted mature politics that led to development and this was something BN was doing.
“They (opposition) are not talking about development policies and the future of the country. What they have are ceramah filled with accusations against the government, instigation and insults.
“This is unhealthy and people in Sabah reject this kind of politics,” he said after observing the early voting process at the Royal Malaysian Navy base in Kota Kinabalu here yesterday.
At a talk in Melaka on Friday night, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng reportedly said the opposition could form a government after the 14th General Election (GE14) if it could fulfil three conditions, one of it was to break BN’s fixed deposit in Sabah and Sarawak.
Rahman, who is Sepanggar BN parliamentary candidate, said the challenge from the opposition in Sabah was greater this time around compared with the last general election, but noted that Parti Warisan Sabah leader Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was not the ideal candidate to champion the ubah slogan.
Rahman said he had more respect for Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, even though they were not on the same page, politically speaking.
When asked to comment on Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz appearing at the Opposition talk in Melaka, Rahman said the former Wanita Umno chief was not willing to accept reality.
“Even though they have retired, they can’t face facts.
“They (opposition) accused our prime minister, but they too are entangled in corruption scandals.
“Some have even been caught and charged (in court).”
