BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR

It’s back-to-school for some of our associates at Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, with a special day for the kids at SK Pendidikan Khas Jalan Peel. Our corporate social value programme focuses on giving back to the community as an effort to build a new generation for the future. We hope that our contribution will help the children compete and excel in the community and build the nation.

This time, our kitchen department takes the lead (March 2018), with representatives from each department, such as human resources, finance, front office and engineering, joining in the effort. The volunteers, comprises 31 associates, arrived at SK Pendidikan Khas Jalan Peel in Cheras at 10am and were greeted by teachers and the students. Although it was raining, it did not dampen our spirit to help with restoration works for the school.

After a quick briefing by the management of the school, the volunteers put their skills to use by painting walls, the gate and the entrance signage. Restoration work was also done on cracks in several walls.

As the corporate social responsibility was championed by the kitchen department, the students and teachers were served with a delicious lunch treat and a cupcake decoration session that got the children excited as they showcased their talent in pastry and bakery.

SK Pendidikan Khas Jalan Peel was built to nurture and caters to children with special needs. By giving them a chance to develop social skills through a series of specially-constructed educational programmes. It will motivate and ensure they will be ready to compete in the challenging world.

“An act of kindness is best left unspoken but shown through love, care and empathy”, said Bhavani Navaratnam, the hotel’s executive assistant manager.
