DAP LISTS

ITS OWN AS MINISTERS, KIT SIANG JUST USING DR M AS A TOOL

DAP, NOT PKR, CONTESTING SAFE SEATS; KIT SIANGʼS PARTY WILL BE STRONGEST OPPOSITION GROUP IN PARLIAMENT DISASTER IF OPPOSITION WINS AS DIFFERENT IDEOLOGIES WILL RESULT IN AN ‘UNSTABLE’ GOVT

BARISAN Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak said opposition Langkawi parliamentary candidate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad being paraded as the leader and icon of the opposition is just a charade.

He said the drama was staged by DAP leader Lim Kit Siang and his son, Guan Eng, with a hidden agenda.

He said the DAP agenda to make Dr Mahathir the frontman was merely to cloud the eyes of Malay voters and ensure the opposition won the 14th General Election (GE14).

Najib said under Malaysia’s political system, DAP would have the most power and influence in the opposition because it had the most seats in Parliament.

He said this was aided by the fact that DAP was contesting urban seats.

“Now they try to show that Dr Mahathir is leading the opposition. Tomorrow (May 8), Dr Mahathir would give a speech, with other opposition leaders sitting at the back.

“This is not just my reading, but that of almost everyone as DAP will emerge as the one with the highest number of seats,” Najib said during TV3’s Bual Bicara Mandat programme at Sri Pentas in Petaling Jaya last night.

Present were Media Prima Bhd (MPB) group chairman Tan Sri Ismee Ismail, MPB group managing director Datuk Kamal Khalid, MPB Television Networks News and Current Affairs group managing editor Datuk Seri Mohd Ashraf Abdullah, New Straits Times Press (NSTP) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid and NSTP editor-inchief Datuk Yushaimi Yahaya.

The programme was moderated by Azmi Hassan, who is a geostrategic expert, and Universiti Sains Malaysia lecturer Prof Dr Sivamurugan Pandian.

Najib, who will defend the Pekan parliamentary seat, said GE14 was a clash between Umnoled BN and a disorganised opposition.

He said the division of seats for DAP showed it was the head of the opposition despite its denials.

“Their ideology is different, but in truth the coalition is headed by DAP, which has the highest number of seats in GE14, especially in urban areas.

“We can see this when (DAP secretary-general) Guan Eng announced that his two senior men, including Nga Kor Ming, would be made ministers.

“DAP is not even in power yet, but it already announced (the cabinet arrangement), thus proving that the party controls the opposition.”

Najib said the people of Kelantan were warming up to BN, opening the opportunity for the coalition to retake the state from Pas.
