ZAHID: LET’S TURN SUPPORT INTO VOTES

Coalition getting ‘extraordinary’ feedback, support nationwide, says DPM

- SHAARANI ISMAIL

THE Barisan Nasional ruling coalition has received “extraordinary” feedback and support nationwide. Deputy BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, however, said what was more important was that support was translated into votes on polling day.

“I am saying because I have seen it with my eyes. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is BN chairman, is in Sabah and he has also seen this encouraging support and this has given him confidence.

“Even though on social media we see a big wave which points to what seems to be a win for them (the opposition), the reality is that ‘silent’ voters are with us (BN).”

He said this after launching a “Back to School” programme organised by the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia and Yayasan Kemanusiaan Muslim Aid Malaysia at SK Sungai Nipah here.

Zahid said the crowds at opposition ceramah might look big, but this was because they organised these in urban areas, whereas voters in rural areas supported BN.

“We know that 70 per cent of state and parliamentary seats are located in rural areas and the support we have there has increased at an extraordinary rate compared with the 12th and 13th General Elections.

“From what we can see, this has worried our opposition, so they have resorted to various tactics, including last-minute surprise attacks on BN, focusing on the prime minister.”

He said support for BN in Sabah and Sarawak had increased tremendously, especially in the interior and at longhouses.

He said, from Perlis to Johor, there was a massive support for BN, adding that this could be felt even on the east coast, which was a positive change.

“I urge Malaysians, especially voters, not to believe the fake news and psychological warfare coming from the opposition... they have lost their direction.”
