DPM urges BN members to pray for big win

-

SEPANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on Barisan Nasional members to conduct special prayers tomorrow so that the coalition can win big in the 14th General Election (GE14).

He said the call was for all faiths — including Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus and other faiths — to carry out prayers, respectively.

“The prayers of victims of lies and slanders are makbul (acceptable) by God.

“For Muslims, we have been taught not to disclose the aib (the weaknesses) of others so that Allah will do the same for us.

“When we become victims of slander and lies, our prayers are easily acceptable by God,” he said before a crowd of more than 1,000 during a meet-the-people programme here yesterday.

He said the opposition and former Umno leaders who betrayed the party had used all tactics against their opponents, including adopting smear campaign against BN candidates especially against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife.

Taking a swipe at former Umno leaders who seemed to forget what the party had done for them, he said: “They became great because of us (Umno and BN) and the people. Their time has passed, they should make use of their time to look after their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”

Zahid reminded candidates who won in GE14 to remain humble and put the people’s needs above all.

“Winning a general election does not mean that it is time to change a small car to bigger one; a small house to bigger house or add another wife.”

Selangor, he said, fielded 57 new faces, 14 for parliamentary and 43 state seats.

“They are the new hope for Selangor.

“Please give them the chance so that they can prove that they are better than the wakil rakyat before them.

“If they fail to perform, punish them next time around,” he said, adding that he believed Sepang could once again become a BN bastion with the strong line-up of candidates at parliamentary and state levels.

BN fielded Datuk Marsum Paing, who is Sepang Umno chief, for the Sepang parliamentary seat; Datuk Ng Chok Sin for the Sungai Pelek state seat; Datuk Dr Karim Mansor for the Tanjong Sepat state seat and Shahrum Mohd Shariff to defend the Dengkil state seat.
