Malays in DAP merely flower pots, says member

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malays in DAP are considered as merely “flower pots” (decorative item) without any agenda planned for them.

DAP life-long member Amran Ahmad Nor said there was no such thing as fighting for Malays in the party, which is a Chinese-majority party.

“One of DAP’s Malay Central Executive Committee members asked me what is the point of having Malays in the party if their role is to serve as ‘flower pots’.

“If the simplest thing like the role of Malays in a party is taken so lightly, what can be said about Felda, Tabung Haji, Mara and many other Bumiputera agencies that DAP would have to take care of if it comes into power?

“If the Penang administration model is to be applied in Putrajaya by the opposition, I am concerned about the future of Malays, especially those who work in ministries that may be under the purview of DAP,” he told the New Straits Times Press yesterday.

Amran said his role as an assistant producer to DAP’s official online television channel UbahTV exposed to him the propaganda the party was planning against the ruling government.

“For the sake of power, they are willing to do anything, which includes cheating, spreading propaganda and practising immature politics.”

Amran said DAP was the mastermind behind the opposition’s manifesto.

“This was shown during a press conference, where Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had to constantly refer to DAP leaders when questions were asked.

“The opposition’s manifesto is merely a fantasy drawn to give false hope to the people.”

He challenged opposition economists to prove if the abolishment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) would actually reduce the price of goods.

“If GST is abolished and the Sales and Services Tax is implemented, I am concerned that traders will take the opportunity to increase the price of goods.

“If this happens, the people will just be cheated by yet another sweet promise of the opposition.”

If the Penang administration model is to be applied in Putrajaya by the opposition, I am very concerned about the future of Malays, especially those who work in ministries that may be under the purview of DAP.
