Aid to fishermen is BN being a responsible govt

-

PEKAN: The fishing community, which is the recipient of government aid, should not be insulted because Barisan Nasional (BN) is carrying out its duties as a responsible government.

Life was difficult for the community as it faced hardship.

However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said due to the government’s initiatives, fishing villages nationwide had undergone a facelift.

“For example, here in Kuala Pahang, we have built solar-powered housing units, which may not be offered in other places.

“Besides that, we offer training programmes under the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC).

“Repair works (for fishermen’s homes) here were carried out with cooperation of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP),” he said during a meet-the-people session at a fishing community in Kuala Pahang yesterday.

Present were Peramu Jaya state seat candidate Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali, ECERDC chief executive officer Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John and UMP Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Seri Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim.

Najib brought cheer when he announced additional housing projects for Kuala Pahang fishermen.

“Once traditional fishing villages, the community here now live in comfortable homes. We have done a lot for the community and will continue providing the best for them,” he said.
