‘Dr M saving Malaysia is a lie’

-

KOTA BARU: All talk about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wanting to “save” Malaysia is nothing but a lie, says Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said Dr Mahathir was only interested in regaining power, to the extent of cooperating with DAP.

Annuar, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Ketereh parliamentary seat, said Dr Mahathir wanted to become prime minister again to ensure his cronies were well taken care of.

“Before this, he used to say that DAP and Lim Kit Siang are racists and anti-Islam. However, he has made a U-turn by claiming that he wants to save Malaysia.

“I regret that he is criticising the government, is going against the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak), and has left the party (Umno).

“However, what I cannot accept is him pawning his principles and condemning everything Umno is doing all this while,” he said, adding that Dr Mahathir had turned to DAP to achieve his aim of returning to power.

Annuar said this at a ceramah in Kadok here last night.

Present were Gua Musang BN parliamentary candidate Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Kadok state seat candidate Mohammad Azam Ismail.

Annuar said DAP was set to become the dominant party in the opposition.

“This is a very dangerous situation we are facing. Some people say that this is not true.

“However, we can see it happening in the Selangor and Penang state assemblies, where its (DAP) demands have to be entertained.”

Tengku Razaleigh expressed confidence that BN could wrest the state from Pas, which had failed to bring development in the 28 years it had held power.

“We can see the support for us is increasing as many Kelantanese want to return and work here.

“If we want that, there must be job opportunities. That is why a change in government here is needed to ensure that more industrial sites are opened up and work opportunities are created,” he said.
