OVER the years, women have achieved substantial success and have never been left behind under the leadership of the Barisan Nasional government headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Wanita BN chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said, however, there was a long way to go for women to be able to stand as powerful and equal as men.

“My passion is for the struggle of our women and families in Malaysia. Women have achieved substantial success, but we still have a long way to go.

“On my journey with all of you, I have had the honour of working with women of all stripes, and I have seen the potential we have.

“It is my dream that Malaysian women stand as powerful and equal partners to the men of Malaysia, where our men can derive great confidence from knowing that their partners in nation building stand like mountains beside them; unshakeable and resourceful,” she said.

She said Najib was committed in continuing to serve the country diligently, and with passion with the policies, programmes and plans implemented.

Shahrizat said it was her dream that women fulfilled their destiny in uplifting society so that future generations would grow up in a nation that they can be proud of.

“It is my dream that no woman is ever left behind, by the government and by society, in any way, shape or form, for as long as the BN government is chosen by us, the people,” she added.

Shahrizat pledged to dedicate her time to serving the people.

“I believe in BN’s ideals. I believe in its abilities and duties. It has been our tradition to serve a multicultural and multiracial Malaysia, and to embrace and cherish our differences and diversity. We will continue to do so, for the sake of the happiness and success of all Malaysians, God willing.

“BN has served the country diligently and with commitment. As a result of our multicultural community, and passionate dedication to practical governance, we live in a stable and progressive nation that has avoided many of the pitfalls that can easily inflict a melting pot society like ours.

“Malaysia is a good country to call home. I believe that most Malaysians would agree with me on that. God bless us all.”

Shahrizat said Malaysians would be responsible for choosing which party to govern the nation over the next five years, adding that destiny as a happy and successful country rested in everyone’s hands.
