Choosing the right tertiary institution

-

FOR school leavers who are on the threshold of tertiary education, foundation studies are particularly important in preparing them to be mentally and intellectually ready for the rigours of tertiary education.

The younger generation of Malaysians are fortunate to have a wide variety of choices when it comes to choosing which institutions of higher learning to pursue their tertiary education.

However, choosing the right higher learning institute can be overwhelming as it is one of the major decisions a young school leaver needs to make to ensure a promising future career.

Some of the important factors to consider when making such a decision are the credibility of the institution and content of the syllabi, the teaching and learning facilities available and of course, the affordability of the fees.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has more than 49 years of excellence in providing pre-university education that has nurtured countless students to unlock their full potential in their tertiary education.

The foundation programme offered by TAR UC prepares students to pursue bachelor’s degree programmes in TAR UC.

Conducted by the Centre for Pre-University Studies, the Foundation programme is structured to ensure students are able to assimilate and gain a deeper understanding of the requisite knowledge so that they are well-prepared to continue in-depth studies at undergraduate level.

The Foundation programme is divided into Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science. To ensure that TAR UC’s Foundation programme prepares the students well for a wider range of TAR UC’s undergraduate programmes, the Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science are further divided into two separate tracks.

Each track is comprehensively structured with the relevant subjects to provide and develop appreciation of key knowledge that will help students in transitioning from pre-university level to undergraduate studies in their discipline of choice.

In addition to this, students also have two new foundation programmes to choose from in TAR UC, namely the Foundation in Accounting and Foundation in Engineering which will be offered in the May 2018 and September 2018 intakes.

The Foundation in Accounting is specifically developed to comprehensively equip students who are planning to pursue the Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) or Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur Main Campus or the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance which is offered in the Penang Branch Campus.

These Bachelor degree programmes are intensive programmes developed to prepare students to pursue professional qualification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia.

Meanwhile, students who choose the Foundation in Engineering will be specifically trained to study any engineering or engineering related science degree programmes in TAR UC.

The Foundation programme in TAR UC is the best step forward before embarking on pursuing TAR UC’s Bachelor degree programmes.
