VALDANO: INCLUDE SALAH IN YOUR PRAYERS

Marcelo told to brace for Liverpool dangerman by Real’s former manager

-

FORMER Real Madrid manager and player, Argentine Jorge Valdano, has warned Brazilian defender Marcelo that he will need to wake up and be at his very best if he is to contain Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final.

“They should give him a photo of Salah so that he starts to include him in his prayers and begins to look after his side of the wing much better,” said Valdano after Real drew 2-2 with Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico.

“The Real Madrid defence needs to be more attentive, especially against Liverpool, because they are a team that thrives off the mistakes of their rivals.”

Marcelo will come up against Salah at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev on May 26 (Saturday), and Real know that the attacking full-back will be targeted.

Meanwhile, Marcelo’s best pal, Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to rest during the next two games after spraining his ankle against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

The club have given no time frame for his return, but manager Zinedine Zidane indicated on Sunday that the player was already confident the injury was not serious.

Real play Sevilla today (Wednesday) and are home to Celta Vigo at the weekend. The following weekend, they finish the league season away at Villarreal.

Ronaldo expects to be back to play 90 minutes in that game, a week before the final in Ukraine.
