Fajer’s foreign faith is only in Brazilian Cassio

- Aziman Rosdi

the Malaysian Football League (MFL) can lift the transfer restriction on Kelantan through an appeal, the Kelantan FA (KAFA) are not in a hurry to sign any foreign player.

KAFA president Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan said any decision to sign a new import is up to their Syrian coach Fajer Ebrahim who is more focused on recruiting young Kelantan players.

“We did appeal to MFL (on lifting the transfer ban) after we had mutually ended our contract with Ferdinand Sinaga (of Indonesia).

“We also agreed to pay Bruno (Lopes of Brazil) till June. That means Kelantan have two foreign slots to fill after the termination of the contracts of the two players.

Bibi said Fajer is only keen to retain Brazilian defender Cassio de Jesus and is ready to release Korean Do Dong H y u n a n d M ohammed Ghaddar of Lebanon.

“Our coach (Fajer) said if there are good import players available, we will be interested.

“If there are none available, Kelantan will focus on getting young players from our state.”

Earlier, Kelantan, Sarawak and Penang were prohibited by MFL to sign foreign players due to players’ registration issue.

However, MFL later said the teams concerned can appeal to be exempted from the transfer ban.

According to Bibi, Kafa are trying to clear their debts and reduce costs in running their Super League team by developing more young players.
