PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced full support for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership. Although he did not mention what he was referring to, it is believed that Anwar was commenting on a statement made by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who criticised Dr Mahathir’s announcement on three ministerial posts.

Anwar yesterday said during a meeting with Dr Mahathir on Saturday, he relayed the unhappiness felt by certain Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders, who called for a more inclusive discussion regarding the line-up.

“The view (on having an inclusive discussion) was well-received by Dr Mahathir, but it must be decided by PH’s presidential council.

“I have voiced my opinion to the PKR leadership to ensure that the government, under Dr Mahathir and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s leadership, will be strengthened so that it can fulfil its responsibilities.

“I urge all of my comrades who have been given the mandate by the people, to perform their duties to save and rebuild our country.”

On Saturday, Rafizi accused Dr Mahathir of having bulldozed through the appointments of three ministers.

He claimed PKR was not consulted before the prime minister announced the names for the posts, adding that the decision was unilateral.

Dr Mahathir had announced at a press conference the appointments of Lim Guan Eng as finance minister, Mohamad Sabu as defence minister and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as home minister. Seven other ministers in the 10person cabinet will be announced this week.
