‘PKR leaders at hospital, did not boycott meeting’
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali clarified that PKR did not intend to boycott the Pakatan Harapan presidential meeting on the appointment of the three ministers.
The PKR deputy president said during that time, the party’s representatives were at Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital here to meet PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“We (the PKR reps) were waiting at the hospital and tried to persuade them (the presidential council) to meet us there, but they were at the Yayasan AlBukhary building.
“Later, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad came (to the hospital) and explained to Anwar what had happened.
“This is not a question of boycott, we also want Anwar to contribute his ideas, which was why Dr Mahathir went and had a discussion with Anwar,” he said at the People’s Appreciation Ceremony in Gombak yesterday.
He was commenting on the absence of the PKR leaders at the Pakatan’s presidential meeting on Saturday to discuss the cabinet appointments. Azmin said the process to appoint other cabinet ministers would continue.
“PKR welcomed Dr Mahathir’s meeting with Anwar yesterday and the latter had also given his thoughts to the prime minister in ensuring discussions were done smoothly.
“Dr Mahathir has already given his thoughts and received suggestions from Pakatan.
“The names (cabinet line-up) will be presented to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V for consent,” he added.
