WHO EXACTLY IS SABAH CM?
Shafie attends first function as state leader, but Musa has not resigned
CONFUSION still reigns in Sabah as to who exactly is the chief minister. While Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal attended his “first function as chief minister” yesterday morning, Tan Sri
Musa Aman’s press secretary, Afeiza Khan, issued a statement later in the evening, saying that Musa, who is also state Barisan Nasional chairman, had not resigned and was still the state government leader.
“Please note that nothing has changed.
“Tan Sri Musa Aman has not resigned. He is still the rightful chief minister,” she said.
Musa, who has been chief minister since 2004, was sworn in on Thursday before Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin when BN and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku secured a simple majority of 31 out of 60 state seats.
However, six BN assemblymen switched sides, and joined Parti Warisan Sabah and Pakatan Harapan, thus increasing the pact’s seats from 29 to 35.
This later led to the swearing in of Warisan president Shafie as chief minister, causing the confusion.
Earlier, Shafie attended the 5th Sabah Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah International Dragon Boat Race 2018 at Likas Bay.
Shafie was accompanying Juhar. Present were Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din and Kota Kinabalu City Hall director-general Datuk Joannes Solidau.
The programme, which began at 9am, was also attended by DAP leaders, including Kota Kinabalu member of parliament Chan Foong Hin, Sri Tanjong assemblyman Jimmy Wong and Likas assemblyman Tan Lee Fatt.
Shafie had said that there were two possible outcomes in the political scenario in Sabah.
The first, he said, was to dissolve the state assembly and the second, was for Musa to resign.
