PARTI Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) will call for a meeting this week to decide its next move after Barisan Nasional lost to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election (GE14).

PBB deputy president Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said a supreme council meeting was scheduled for Wednesday.

“It is a meeting for our party and does not involve other BN component parties,” he said at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here yesterday.

When asked if PBB, the largest political party in Sarawak, would join Pakatan Harapan, Awang Tengah declined to comment.

“Let’s wait for the meeting,” he said.

He refused to confirm the meeting between Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

It is learnt that the party, which retained 14 seats in GE14, was expected to quit BN and set up its own coalition.

Earlier, Awang Tengah, who is Sarawak’s third deputy chief minister, launched the HackWeekend IDECS, a continuous event where teams collaborate to use computer programming to solve problems.

He said 12 teams would be working to solve three vital themes in the state’s digital economy.

“We hope to cultivate the culture of problem-solving by using digital solutions, whether it is building computer applications or hardware prototypes.”
