Daim urges Jho Low to return, assist govt with 1MDB probe

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, has been urged to return to Malaysia to help in investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Tun Daim Zainuddin, who heads the Council of Eminent Persons, called on Jho Low to return and assist the new government in its probe into the 1MDB scandal.

“The best witness (for the 1MDB investigations) is Jho Low.

“I roughly know where he is, and I would like him to come and help me,” he said at a press conference at Ilham Tower here yesterday.

On how far the government would go to catch the suspects responsible for the scandal, Daim said the law must run its course.

The former finance minister said everybody was innocent until proven guilty.

“We must follow the rule of law. We have promised the people that, and there must be due process,” he said.

“There will be a proper investigation. (We will) build a case and charge people.

“They will go to court and defend themselves. If the court rules that (they are) not guilty, (they) will be acquitted.”

Daim said this applied to everyone, including former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He stressed that no one was above the law, adding, however, that everyone must be treated decently.
