‘Not proven seized items are linked to 1MDB’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: It has not been proven that the luxury items seized at the residences of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak are linked to investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Selangor Non-Governmental Organisations’ Coalition chairman Nazilah Idris said all quarters must stop speculating.

Nazilah, who visited Najib’s residence in Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta, here, at 11.30am yesterday, spent half an hour with him.

According to Nazilah, Najib appeared calm during the visit and was taking the situation as a test.

“He is a great leader and is calm throughout this ordeal.

“I hope he will not be treated like Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Even Botak Chin was not treated this way.

“Let the police investigate in a just manner,” Nazilah said.

On the luxury items seized after a series of raids on Najib’s Taman Duta house, as well as at the Pavilion Residences in the city centre, Nazilah said his wealth should not be questioned as he was the son of a nobleman, who was also the second prime minister.

“Luxury items like that are normally found in luxury residences. If police were to raid other houses in this area, I’m sure they will find more luxury items,” Nazilah said.

“Don’t forget, Najib was appointed Pahang menteri besar at the age of 30.”

Nazilah expressed hope that the government would be fair to everyone, including Najib, and act in accordance with the law.
