MEDIA Prima Bhd saw a sharp increase in numbers in the leading integrated media group’s coverage of the 14th General Election (GE14).

Media Prima Digital chief executive officer Rafiq Razali said according to Google Analytics, the Media Prima news portals, including SAYS, MyUndi, Harian Metro (HM), Berita Harian (BH) and the New Straits Times (NST) recorded more than 25.6 million unique visitors and 296 million page views.

Out of this figure, 10 per cent of the unique visitors came from outside Malaysia between April 6 and May 13.

“MyUndi online news platform and the GE14 mobile app from Media Prima Labs recorded 2.1 million unique visitors with 13.3 million page views on May 9 and 10.

“MyUndi is Google’s top search for ‘vote’ keyword search results during the election period.

“Media Prima’s GE14 video coverage recorded 22.3 million views on Facebook and YouTube platforms, as well as via video-streaming service,” Rafiq said in a statement here yesterday.

He said the number of visitors and spectators during the election period was much higher compared with what was reflected by the monthly data.

“This is unlikely to be achieved without the skills and dedication of Media Prima staff and editorial team through the online portals offered by the group.”

He said Media Prima’s high digital access during the GE14 coverage was in line with its mission of becoming the premier digital content and commerce company in Malaysia.

“Media Prima is now ranked third in Malaysia, after Google and Facebook, in terms of digital access volume.

“This has convinced us that we will achieve the target of increasing revenue from digital resources by 20 per cent by 2020.

“Advertisers can get high digital access through our Media Prima audience — our new digital product will enhance the performance of digital advertising, which enables them to improve their campaign performance through accurate audience targeting through various advertising formats via the Media Prima network,” he said.

According to Google Analytics, the HM website recorded more than 8.6 million unique monthly visitors for the first three months of this year, maintaining its position as the No.1 news portal in Malaysia, while BH website was ranked second with a monthly average of 6.1 million unique visitors.
