10 Kedah Pakatan Harapan exco members sworn in
ALOR STAR: Anak Bukit assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah (PKR) led the swearing in of state executive councillors before Sultan of Kedah Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah at Istana Anak Bukit here yesterday.
Besides Amiruddin, the 10 exco member line-up are Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh (Pengkalan Kundor), Tan Kok Yew (Derga), Zamri Yusuf (Suka Menanti), Azman Nasrudin (Lunas), Mohd Asmirul Anuar Aris (Kubang Rotan), Ooi Tze Min (Bakar Arang), Dr Salmee Said (Kota Siputeh), R. Summugam (Bukit Selambau) and Halimaton Shaadiah Saad (Bukit Kayu Hitam).
Present were Sultanah of Kedah Sultanah Maliha Tengku Ariff, Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafuddin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin and Raja Puan Muda of Kedah Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff, as well as Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and royal dignitaries.
Amiruddin, who is Kubang Pasu member of parliament, will hold the state portfolios in finance, government-linked companies, industry and investment, and religion. Dr Ismail will take up the information, health and rural development committee portfolio.
Tan will hold the tourism, local government and housing committee portfolio; Zamri (science, innovation and information technology, public work, water supply and resources, and energy); Azman (agriculture and agro-based industry, transport and human development); and Asmirul (youth and sports, culture, arts and heritage, entrepreneur development, and non-governmental organisations).
Ooi will be chairman of the Chinese and Siamese community affairs, human resources and environment committee; Dr Salmee (education, communication and high technology, and domestic trade); Summugam (Indian Affairs, unity and consumer affairs and cooperatives committee); Halimaton Shaadiah (women development, community welfare and poverty eradication committee).
The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by state High Court judge Datuk Hashim Hamzah and Sharie chief judge Datuk Syeikh Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
Mukhriz will be chairman of the state’s economic planning committee, land affairs and revenue, natural resources committee as well as the its state action council.
The line-up comprised four members from PKR, three from Parti Amanah Negara, two from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and one from DAP.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) was given the mandate to form a new state government after winning 18 of 36 state seats. As opposition, Pas has 15 state seats, while Barisan Nasional has three.
Mukhriz, who is state PH chairman, was appointed the 13th Kedah menteri besar. This was the second time he was sworn in as the state’s menteri besar. The first was after BN wrested the state from the Pas-led state government in the 13th General Election in 2013.
