Austin Amutu hopes to make amends following his dismal Super League debut for Pahang in the 2-0 defeat to Kedah on Tuesday when the east coast side host Kuala Lumpur in Kuantan today.

The 25-year-old is determined to show the home fans what he is really capable of as he aims to help his new team shine in the ongoing season.

“I am not under any pressure and things will get better for me as the league progresses. I could not score against Kedah, but I am confident that I will do better tomorrow (today),” said Amutu, who had a short stint with Kelantan in 2015.

“It would be nice if I can score as my job here is to do just that.”

Amutu played for Tunisian club Esperance Zarzis before joining Pahang on May 11.

Amutu and former Canada international Issey Nakajima-Farran are Pahang’s new signings as replacements for Cambodian Chan Vathanaka and Liberian Francis Doe.

Pahang coach Dollah Salleh is also counting on Gambian forward Mohamadou Sumareh to be fit from a recent injury for the match as he needs options in attack today.

Meanwhile, Melaka chief minister Adly Zahari is now the president of the Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA).

“Melaka have the potential to do well in the M-League. I will look for more sponsors as the way forward will depend on the financial status of the club,” he said.
