“I want to thank all Malaysians for their help in easing the burden to reduce the Federal Government’s debt.

Lim had disclosed recently that the Federal Government’s actual debt and liabilities stood at RM1.087 trillion, or 80.3 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP) as at Dec 31.

Lim advised the public to be careful of posters of a fake Tabung Harapan Malaysia account that was being circulated via social media platforms.

“The account number is different that what has been announced before, 5660-1062-6452 (Maybank).

“The ministry will lodge a police report against anyone who tries to take advantage of the people’s kindness (through such scam),” he said in a statement.

In this respect, Lim urged the public to check the account number before making any transaction and to ensure they would not become victims to such scams.

It was reported that the contribution made to Tabung Harapan Malaysia was tax deductible for individuals as well as companies, and there was no limit to the tax deduction.
