Russian ambassador promises Malaysians a good time at World Cup

ambassador to Malaysia, Valery Yermolov has assured Malaysians of an unforgetta­ble experience if they travel to his country to watch the World Cup, which starts later this month.

Yermolov disclosed that Russia has done a lot to ensure that the country is ready to host the world’s most prestigiou­s football event and has made numerous arrangemen­ts to facilitate easy entry into the country and free travel on public transport for all fans.

“The World Cup means a lot to Russia and its citizens. We welcome guests from all over the world to get acquainted with its diverse culture, centuries old history and unique nature,” said Yermolov at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture yesterday.

“Russia knows how to welcome its friends and I can assure everyone here that if you plan to visit our country, you will never forget this wonderful and inspiring experience.

“There will be visa-free entrance to Russia for the whole period of World Cup events and longer, to be precise from Monday to July 15.

“Spectators are required to possess a FAN-ID, which is a document that identifies a person as a football fan and can be obtained free of charge online.

“In order to make visitor’s travel between cities less troublesom­e and expensive, we will be providing our guest with free-ofcharge public transport, among other amenities that we will offer.”
