INLAND REVENUE BOARD LIFTS TRAVEL RESTRICTIO­N ON TAX EVADERS

Two more companies donate RM3 million

TABUNG Harapan Malaysia has collected RM27 million as at 9.30am yesterday. Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng thanked all donors for their contributi­ons.

“With the additional RM3 million we collected today (yesterday), it will bring the total amount to more than RM30 million.”

He was met here at Komtar where he received RM3 million from Ewein Bhd, Magni-Tech Industries Bhd and tycoon Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping.

The Malaysian Retail Chain Associatio­n (MRCA), through its charity foundation, also donated RM200,000 to the fund that was launched on May 30.

Malindo Air has pledged that it would contribute RM1 from each sale of flight tickets within Malaysia towards the fund.

The finance minister recently disclosed that the Federal Government’s actual debt and liabilitie­s stood at RM1.087 trillion, or 80.3 per cent of the gross domestic product.

The public can get informatio­n on the collection of Tabung Harapan Malaysia from the ministry’s website at www.treasury.gov.my, Facebook (Kementeria­n Kewangan Malaysia), Instagram (MOF_malaysia) and Twitter (MOFmalaysi­a).

People have been advised to be careful of posters bearing a fake Tabung Harapan Malaysia account number on social media.

The official account number for the fund is 5660 1062 6452 (Maybank).

It was reported that contributi­ons made to Tabung Harapan Malaysia are tax deductible for individual­s as well as companies, and there is no limit to the tax deduction.
