Probe into murder, suicide case completed, say cops
MANJUNG: Police have completed their investigations into the case involving a 66-year-old man shot by another senior citizen, who then shot himself in Kampung Koh, last Friday night.
Manjung District police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Othman said witnesses and family members of the suspect and the victim had given their statements to police on the case.
“The family members and witnesses had their statements recorded at the Manjung district police headquarters yesterday.
“Based on the witnesses’ statements and evidence, we consider the case closed,” he said here yesterday.
Hanif said the victim’s bodies had been released to their respective families, after postmortems were completed on Saturday.
“The post-mortems revealed that victim died due to gunshot wounds on the thighs and left arm while the suspect died due to a gunshot wound on his head,” he said.
In the incident about 10.50pm, Chu Phan Hoo, 62, was found dead, believed to have shot himself in a Toyota Fortuner car in Simpang Dua, about six kilometres from where he had shot his friend, Ling Iu King, 66.
Ling died on the way to the Seri Manjung Hospital.
The police did not rule out the possibility that the misunderstanding between the two, who were previously seen drinking together at a restaurant, was over debts owed by the victim to the suspect.
