Indulge in over 150 local delicacies of mom’s style home cooking at Retro Café

This year, Vivatel Kuala Lumpur welcomes the holy month of Ramadan with an extravagant spread of more than 150 local and international delights in their all-day dining outlet, Retro Café. Endeavouring to evoke fond memories of mum’s love through carefully recreating all-time favourite comfort dishes, guests are invited to savour the whiff of nostalgia at the “Rasa Ibu” themed Ramadan buffet.

Retro Café’s team of chefs led by executive chef Ashar Daud, who is backed by some 25 years of experience in renowned hotels, will be whipping up a buffet spread that boasts a plethora of authentic specialities presented with the inspiration of mum’s cooking.

Commenting on the theme “Rasa Ibu”, Chef Ashar says, “Why do people prefer mum’s cooking? It is because the secret ingredients are passion and love. Here, at Vivatel Kuala Lumpur, our team believes in creating each and every dish with passion and love. With the aim to strengthen bonding moments for family and friends, especially during this fasting month, we endeavour to deliver treasured loving moments in our buffet preparations, for our guests to savour and enjoy the dining experience with a touch of love.”

The scrumptious buffet spread is available from 6.30pm to 10pm daily, from May 18 to June 13, at Retro Café, Lobby Level, Vivatel Kuala Lumpur. The chef team has curated a selection of mouth-watering recipes, such as resplendent Malay dishes of Sup Gear Box Kambing, Kambing Panggang, Fish Head Curry, Nasi Kandar Telur, as well as the not-to-be-missed, decadent treats of Bubur and Pengat, Cream Caramel and Sago Gula Melaka.

“Watch our team in action at the live cooking stations, which serve more than 25 delicacies, such as Asam Pedas, Fish Head Curry, Air Cendol Durian, Air Kelapa Muda, Steamed Pulut Manga, Patin Tempoyak, Kacang Tanah Kukus, Pie Tie Cup and Shawarma to name a few,” says Chef Ashar.

In commemorating this holy month of Ramadan, Vivatel Kuala Lumpur also hosted a “Buka Puasa” dinner for more than 40 underprivileged children from Baitul Ulfah Centre. Collaborating with APES Holiday, the children received duit raya and gifts from the management team. In addition, celebrity Irene Catalina, who is the ambassador of Fabulous Empire, one of the hotel’s partners, made a special appearance with a song performance, followed by Nasyid by the children.

The Ramadan Buffet ‘Rasa Ibu’ Promotion is priced at RM98 net per adult, RM78 net per child (aged between 6 and 12 years) and RM78 net per senior citizens (aged above 55 years).
