INDONESIA’S HELP SOUGHT TO FIND JAMAL
He will be brought to justice, says Muhyiddin
POLICE are cooperating with their Indonesian counterpart to trace Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, who allegedly fled to the republic.
Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said police had informed Indonesian authorities of the matter.
“If possible, we want to arrest him (Jamal) today, but we need to follow the process and procedure.
“Inspector-General of Police (Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun) told me that efforts had been made to contact Indonesian police over the matter.
“I hope we can get the cooperation to make sure he (Jamal) is brought to justice,” he said after visiting the Federal Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman yesterday.
Police have issued an arrest warrant against the Sungai Besar Umno division chief after he failed to appear to assist police investigation.
Commenting on Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman, Muhyiddin said the leader was also being traced following a report lodged against him in Sabah.
“He is among the individuals we seek as there is a report lodged against him on what happened in Sabah.
“We will find him. As soon as we locate him, he will face the law,” he said.
Last Friday, the Immigration Department said it would take action against Jamal and Musa if the two leaders were found to have left the country illegally.
The department had also blacklisted the two.
It was reported that a Facebook user claimed he saw Musa at the Saint Pancras International railway station in London. The same user uploaded a 10-second video on his page which went viral.
Musa is wanted by police to facilitate investigation over a report made by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin on criminal intimidation.
