MAHB ALLOCATES RM30 FOR DIGITAL INITIATIVE
MAHB wants digital interaction with passengers to be priority
MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has allocated RM30 million to implement the Airports 4.0 digital initiative, which aims to make digital interaction with passengers a priority.
Its managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the allocation involved the integration of Big Data Analytics (BDA), with raising the level of service one of the initiatives under the Total Airport Experience pillar.
MAHB is currently undergoing a digital transformation that encompasses the use of BDA and Internet of Things devices to enhance airport operations by anticipating foot traffic flows, managing facilities for passenger comfort and reducing queue time and congestion.
“Among the latest development under the digital enhancement initiative is the launch of the MYairports app to help passengers plan their journey.
“With this app, you will be able to get live updates on flight information, time left to board the flights, shopping and dining promotions, and important airport information.
“More excitingly, our MYairports app will feature dynamic wayfinding around the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA),” said Badlisham.
It expects more than 10,000 active downloads by the end of the year.
The MYairports app aims to provide a seamless journey to the airport, right till the boarding gate. It is available for download on Google Play store for Android users and Apple App Store for iOS users.
For now, the app features information on the KLIA main terminal. Information on Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 will soon be made available, followed by the rest of the international airports.
“By the end of 2019, more systems will be in place,” he said.
