MACC RAIDS KL CITY HALL, SEIZES DOCUMENTS LINKED TO SALE OF 64 LOTS OF LAND
MACC officers raid DBKL’s Menara 1 over the sale of 64 lots of land between 2013 and this year
ATEAM of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers raided Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s Menara 1 to seize documents linked to the sale of 64 lots of land between 2014 and this year.
A source told the New Straits Times that the team arrived at 2pm and headed for the Economic Planning and Development Department.
He said a lorry was used to transport the documents to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the raid, but declined to elaborate.
On May 30, Kepong member of parliament Lim Lip Eng said MACC had begun investigating City Hall over the land controversy after Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh lodged a report.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was federal territories minister when the land sales took place.
Lim was previously quoted as saying that the 64 lots of land — believed to be worth RM4.28 billion — were sold to the private sector between 2013 and this year without an open tender process.
He had urged MACC to investigate the top management of a foundation over the issue.
Lim had said that if the lots were being used to build homes under the Federal Territories Affordable Housing Programme (RUMAWIP) and if construction work had already begun, then the projects should continue.
However, he had said if the projects had yet to begin, they should be stopped so that MACC could investigate.
