MOHAMMAD Fazari Altaf Azizan, 11, from SK Padang Garuda, could not contain his excitement as he donned a baju Melayu while his school teachers looked on.

He was one of the 45 underprivileged children from the school who received a RM60 Hari Raya Aidilfitri aid from SK Padang Garuda Welfare Club.

They were accompanied by club members and school teachers to a shopping mall as part of the charity programme.

“Hari Raya Aidilfitri is merrier and meaningful with the aid we received from our teachers, who are concerned about our welfare.

“I am thankful to the teachers who have been providing Hari Raya Aidilfitri clothes for the underprivileged children since 2016.

“I am happy as I can choose the clothes myself,” said the youngest of four siblings, who lost his father six years ago.

Fazari said he would celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Kampung Batu Lima here.

School headmaster and club chairman Mohd Al Hamadi Abu Bakar said the programme was aimed at easing the burden of the pupils’ families.

“The pupils are accompanied to the mall to allow them to try and buy clothes of their own choice. We are responsible in not only imparting knowledge to them, but also to help those in need, especially the poor and orphans.

“The shopping session for the underprivileged is an annual affair that helps foster better ties between the teachers and pupils.”
