BUKIT MERTAJAM: His love for the Quran verses led to a Year Six pupil from SM Pauh Jaya here to spend his time completing all 30 juzuk (chapters) of the holy book six times.

Muhammad Aiman Mohd Rashidi, 12, said he was first introduced to reading the Quran when he was 6. He completed his first recital a year later. He subsequently set a target of completing all 30 juzuk of the Quran once a year.

“Alhamdullillah (praise be to God), at 12, I have completed reciting all 30 juzuk for six times. This is the greatest achievement of my life.

“I hope to continue this practice for as long as possible,” he said at the World #QuranHour programme here yesterday.

More than 600 pupils and teachers took part in reciting the Quran within an hour to commemorate Ramadan.

Alya Nasuha Mohd Daud, 12, has also completed 30 juzuk of the Quran four times.

“The mass recital of the Quranic verses is not only fun, but also helps me to improve my understanding of its words,” she added.

Meanwhile, SK Pauh Jaya headmaster, Ramlee Abu Bakar said the Quranic recital programme had been part of the school’s tradition every Ramadan.

“This is a good way to teach children to appreciate the Quran, which serves as a guide for all Muslims,” Ramlee said.
