NGOs lodge report over article on king
KUALA LUMPUR: Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have lodged a police report over the actions of certain individuals they claimed had allegedly insulted the royal institution, particularly Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.
The report was made by Pertubuhan Inspirasi Melayu Gombak (Impak) and Pertubuhan Waris Keturunan Anak Minang Malaysia (Wakam) at the Gombak district police headquarters yesterday.
The report was made based on an article, allegedly uploaded to a blog believed to belong to Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia’s founder, Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard.
Impak president Datuk Zul Azhari Mohamed Juah said the NGO suspected this was the beginning of a larger agenda aimed at eliminating the power of the king and sultans.
“We urge the police to immediately investigate the authenticity of the article, as well as take action against any individuals or parties that insult and discredit the royal institution.
“This noble institution should be defended.
“This unscrupulous individual is suspected of using seditious elements to incite hatred against the monarchy, (to) destroy the royal institution and instead build a republic.
“It is clear that such an action violated the second principle of the Rukun Negara, which is loyalty to the king and country.
“The violation is directed at the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said.
Zul called on Malay NGOs to support the king.
He said Impak had pledged to give its support and to be the last line of defence for the Yang diPertuan Agong.
Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad said the report was referred to the Shah Alam Section 9 police station as another report on the same issue was lodged there.
