AFFIN Bank Group recently bagged the Liquidity Risk Management Award at the Asian Banker Risk Management Awards in Beijing.

The Asian Banker Risk Man- agement Awards is designed to identify emerging best practices and outstanding achievements of best-run risk management teams in financial institutions and is benchmarked globally by tracking developments around the world.

Affin Bank Bhd group chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil said the award was a recognition of the bank’s commitment to improve its enterprise-wide and liquidity management, as well as advance its risk management practices to keep up with the competitive environment and fast-changing regulatory landscape.

Affin Bank said in the face of rigorous regulatory and business requirements for liquidity, which intensified competition for deposits and put pressure on funding costs, the bank took measures to strengthen its infrastructure for monitoring and managing liquidity risk, including the implementation of an asset liability management system and enhancement of its risk management framework.

“We take cognisance of Affin Bank Group having developed a robust and well-structured funding plan for a sustainable balance sheet, which contributed to its double-digit growth in total deposits,” said Asian Banker managing editor Foo Boon Ping.
