3 buses, lorry and ex­ca­va­tor de­stroyed in fire at DBKL store

KUALA LUMPUR: Fire razed a store be­long­ing to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in­Jalan 6, off Jalan Chan Sow Lin, in Sun­gai Besi yes­ter­day, de­stroy­ing three buses, a lorry and an ex­ca­va­tor.

City Fire and Res­cue Depart­ment di­rec­tor Khirudin Drahman said 17 per­son­nel from KLCC, Se­puteh and Kera­mat fire sta­tions rushed to the scene in four en­gines fol­low­ing a dis­tress call at 4.34pm.

“The team found the blaze was at the premises of DBKL used to store its con­demned ma­te­ri­als,” he said here yes­ter­day. There were no ca­su­al­ties in the in­ci­dent.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, Khirudin said sev­eral rooms in a five-storey build­ing, which housed an entertainment out­let, in Jalan Sun­gai Besi were razed in a fire on Mon­day. He said the depart­ment re­ceived a dis­tress call at 3.38pm and 15 fire­fight­ers from the Hang Tuah and Pudu fire sta­tions were dis­patched.

“The whole of the fifth floor was de­stroyed in the in­ci­dent.”
