Spending Raya on wheels at Le Mans

- Ishak Fadhli

DESPITE running smack into the Hari Raya festival, Nabil Jeffri and Jazeman Jaafar are determined to make an impact in their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.

The two World Endurance Championship (WEC) drivers will join forces with teammate Weiron Tan at Le Mans under the Sepang International Circuit Driver Development Programme.

Competing for the Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota team, it will be the first time an all-Malaysian crew are competing in the prestigious race.

Nabil said racing during Hari Raya is not new to him, nor his teammates.

“I’d like to wish Malaysians Selamat Hari Raya, pray for us here. We will do our best and hopefully secure a podium finish for Malaysia,” said Nabil.

“We have celebrated Aidilfitri abroad before due to races. I take it as part of the sacrifices we need to make as national drivers.

“There will be times when races are held during Ramadan or Hari Raya, and we have to accept it. Our target is still the same which is to do the country proud, this is very important to us.

“This time, however, my family, including my grandmother and grandfather and also Jazeman’s mother, will be coming to watch us race and for sure they will bring some lemang or something to share so it will not be so bad this time.”
