Najib, Rosmah spotted in Langkawi
KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and children were sighted in Langkawi, Kedah, on Saturday evening.
According to sources, Najib and his family are staying at St Regis Hotel for a family holiday.
After losing in the 14th General Election on May 9, Najib took to Twitter to announce that he would be going on a short break with his family.
He had said: “After over four decades in politics and the recent election campaign, which was regrettably personal and perhaps the most intense in Malaysian history, I will take a short break to spend time with my family whom I have not seen enough of in recent years.”
However, on the same day of his departure, Najib had to abort his plans to go for a supposed holiday abroad following the Immigration Department’s move to bar him from leaving the country.
Not long after that, Najib tweeted that he would adhere to the directive.
Since then, Najib and his wife, have been called in for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to facilitate investigations into allegations of graft related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd and SRC International.
Meanwhile, Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali assured Malaysians that Najib and Rosmah were still in the country.
He said the former prime minister and his wife were taking a holiday in Langkawi.
“They went for a holiday and are staying at St Regis Hotel, Langkawi.
“They are not allowed to leave the country,” Mustafar was quoted as saying by a news portal.
