Nation’s longest glass-bottom bridge to be built in Langkawi
LANGK AWI: Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi, one of the tourist attractions in this resort island developed by Taman Buaya Langkawi Sdn Bhd, is planning to build a glass-bottom bridge next year.
The glass-bottom bridge will be the first and the longest of its kind in the country.
Taman Buaya Langkawi general manager Adam Fuaad said the bridge would be 300m long, spanning a large pond filled with crocodiles at the park in Jalan Datai here.
“We expect the bridge to be ready in the second half of next year,” he told Bernama recently.
He said the glass-bottom bridge would be a new attraction in maintaining Crocodile Adventureland’s position as one of the top tourist spots in Langkawi.
“We’ve been carrying out rebranding and intensive marketing campaigns the last three years.
“This year, we were awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor (a travel-related website).”
He said the park, which has 4,000 crocodiles, had been listed by TripAdvisor as one of the top tourist attractions on the island.
“We’re grateful for the good reviews and votes that we’ve been getting from tourists, which have enabled us to be accorded these recognitions.
“We welcome constructive criticism from our visitors.”
Besides its status as a tourist attraction, Crocodile Adventureland had also become a focal point for those from within and outside the country requiring specialised consultancy on the reptile, he added.
He said the park’s most recent engagement was with the Sarawak government, which was eyeing a collaboration to set up a crocodile sanctuary in the state.
“We’ve been invited to become a consultant and carry out educational campaigns among people in Sarawak on how to deal with crocodiles.”
