DPM: ANWAR IS RECOVERING
PKR de facto leader who was warded for shoulder, back pain doing better
PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has been admitted to University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for shoulder and back pain, is recovering.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who visited her husband before she attended the Selangor menteri besar’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here hoped Anwar would recover soon.
“After (he was admitted to the hospital) last night, (he is) better this morning. I saw him before I came here. Alhamdulillah, please continue the prayers. We are very thankful for all the support and prayers.
“I think he will recover soon to continue his work,” she said at Padang B, Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam here yesterday.
It was reported that Anwar had been experiencing pain on his shoulder and back after returning from Turkey recently.
On another matter, Dr Wan Azizah, who is Pakatan Harapan and PKR president, said the party welcomed anyone to join the coalition to serve the country.
She said this when asked to comment on Bagan Serai member of parliament Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, who has quit Umno and Barisan Nasional, and pledged his support for PH and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“That is his prerogative and choice. I think we welcome anyone to join (PH) and make a change for the country.”
Asked if PH will accept Noor Azmi as a member if he wished to join the pact, she said: “We leave it to the state PH to deliberate on that.”
Noor Azmi said yesterday that he would be an independent MP and hoped the people would understand and accept his decision.
On the arrest of lawyer and activist Siti Zabedah Kasim, better known as Siti Kasim, on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping her client from a hospital and obstructing the police from carrying out their duties, Dr Wan Azizah said the matter should be left to the police.
“Siti Kasim’s arrest? I am sorry. Please inform me (of the news). I did not follow (the news). I leave it to the police. I was very busy with my husband last night and I did not follow the news. I am sorry.”
