Selangor sultan graces MB’s Raya open house

SHAH ALAM: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddi­n Idris Shah and his consort, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here yesterday.

Present was Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Their 11.30am arrival at Padang B, Dataran Kemerdekaa­n Shah Alam was marked by the sounds of the kompang, as well as the cheers of 50,000 members of the public who had joined the celebratio­n.

The royal entourage was welcomed by Amirudin and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The event started at 10am and was expected to end at 3pm.

The Selangor ruler, along with Wan Azizah and Amirudin, took the opportunit­y to meet with the rakyat at the event themed “Kesatuan Hati, Kemenangan Diinsafi”.

Amirudin, who is also Sungai Tua assemblyma­n, delivered a speech at the open house, which was his first since he took office on June 20.

Among the guests are members of underprivi­leged communitie­s, invited by the state Welfare Department.

Present were members of the state executive committee and senior state government officials.

An array of Hari Raya delicacies was served, including Aidilfitri must-haves, such as satay, lemang and a variety of kuih at 45
