Musa ‘not on the run’; cops know where Jamal is
He denies reports that he is a fugitive trying to avoid probe into incident at Istana Negeri
TAN Sri Musa Aman, who has not made any public appearance after being removed as Sabah chief minister, admits he is in the United Kingdom for medical and personal reasons.
He denied he exited the country illegally, saying he left Malaysia lawfully on May 16.
“I have been informed of statements and reports that I illegally left Malaysia and illegally entered the UK.
“There were also reports about me becoming a fugitive to avoid being investigated about an incident at Istana Negeri on the night of May 10.
“I believe some of these reports have been made with the intention to discredit me for political reasons.”
Police previously said they had yet to get Musa’s statement as his whereabouts were unknown, although there were claims that he was in London.
Musa reiterated his ongoing proceedings in the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak seeking orders against Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
“He (Juhar) asked me to resign within 48 hours, declined to sign the Instrument of Appointment, and purported to swear in Shafie as chief minister while I was still in office.
“These matters are now subjudice as a result of my originating summons.
“I am willing to assist investigations into these matters and I have made this clear to the state police commissioner (Datuk Ramli Din).
“I have instructed my lawyers in Malaysia and London. Any request for further information must be communicated to them.”
Musa, who led Sabah Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election, was sworn in as chief minister after securing 31 out of 60 seats on May 10.
Parti Warisan Sabah led by Shafie, however, secured additional seats when six BN assemblymen pledged support to Warisan.
This led to Shafie being sworn in on May 12.
